About Ure Lodge

Ure is one of Lofoten’s fishing villages with a bustling life in the 1800s – early 1900s. The cabins were set up for fishermen who needed shelter after hard battles at sea, where the struggle against the forces of nature was part of their everyday life. There are a lot of storms here and the sea is often in turmoil and unfortunately lives were lost all too often. At this time, fishing was the largest and most important source of income in Lofoten in combination with agriculture. (Fisherman)

On Ure, large quantities of fish were caught, which were forwarded by steamboats and transported to Bergen, where the fish was sold to countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Ure was a large and central fishing village and was an important meeting point for fishermen, fish workers and merchants. There was also a post office and bakery here.

Today there’s still fishing here, but in a slightly different way than before. The family business Isqueen AS with over 40 employees who produce salmon of the best quality has its base here.
