Velkommen til Ure, et av de eldste fiskeværene på Vestvågøy!
Historien om Ure strekker seg tilbake til 1500-tallet, da bosetting, registrert fiske og fiskeoppkjøp ble dokumentert her.
På 1800-tallet pulserte havnen med liv under fiskesesongen, og handelsvirksomheten florerte.
Før den siste verdenskrigen var Ure blant de største og mest kjente fiskeværene i Lofoten. Om vinteren lå 60-70 fiskebåter fast forankret, og på stormfulle dager kunne antallet stige til 150 båter i havnen. Ure var et sentrum for aktiviteter med kafeer, telegraf og handel gjennom hele året, og eiendomsretten var tradisjonelt knyttet til en eller få private personer.
Beliggende lengst vest på Vestvågøy, ved munningen av Storfjorden med steiner i øst og Stamsund litt nordøst, gir Ure et malerisk bakteppe. Havneområdet er skjermet av øyer og holmer, som gir beskyttelse mot det verste været fra Vestfjorden.
